Meet the Team

Kristie Ellis

Senior Occupational Therapist
B.Science(Occupational Therapy)

After qualifying with a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa in 2003, and completing her community service at Edenvale Hospital, Johannesburg in 2004, Kristie immediately pursued her lifelong passion for working with children. Over the past 18 years Kristie has worked within multiple sectors, including private, public and NGO / community settings. Through this time, Kristie has become a skilled paediatric therapist, providing evidence-based assessment and treatment approaches as well as an ability to manage parental, health care and educator relationships as they relate to the development of individual children. She has provided services, both face to face and through the telehealth platforms to support children of varying ages overcome certain physical, sensory, perceptual or cognitive obstacles and achieve a level of independence while participating in everyday activities. Kristie and her family moved to Australia at the end of 2020. Prior to this, she co-owned and directed a thriving school-based occupational therapy clinic in South Africa.

Kristie is committed to providing the children in her care with accurate and effective evaluations, interventions, educational resources, and individualised therapy plans that are achievable and collaborative. Kristie strongly believes in a holistic and multidisciplinary 

approach to intervention. 

Kristie has completed further training in 

  • Sensory Integration (SIPT / SAISI: South African Institute for Sensory Integration)
  • Infant Sensory Integration Training (ISIT)
  • Interactive Metronome Certified Provider: Maude Le Roux Academy
  • Sensory Defensiveness: A comprehensive treatment approach: Developed by Patricia Wilbarger and Julia Wilbarger. (Including Therapressure Program)
  • Building Blocks for sensory integration: Vital links, Sheila Frick
  • Basic Course on DIR/Floortime Model through ICDL. 

Advancing her career, staying up to date with current trends and developing new skills are fundamental to Kristie’s continued growth as an occupational therapist. 

 Kristie is married and has a daughter. She loves spending time with family and friends. She has a very active lifestyle, enjoying a variety of sports including running, tennis, golf and swimming. Baking, spending time on the beach and reading are Kristie’s favourite ways to relax.
